The towel drill is, frustratingly, one of the most non functional drills for pitchers. Not only does this not help pitchers because the technique of the towel drill does not translate to proper pitching mechanics, it in fact teaches improper mechanics that place their body and arm in positions that can lead to injury. After reading a post by, former Boston Red Sox pitching coach, Dick Mills and his dislike for the drill I began to see why this drill is so beneficial.
