Improving Neck Strength can Reduce Concussion Risk

Concussions are traumatic injuries to the brain. They occur from direct force to the head or body resulting in the brain hitting the skull. Many professionals in the sporting goods and sports medicine fields have spent a lot of time and research to try to find ways to decrease these forces. Modifications in helmets, impact sensors, mouth guards, and head gear have all been used to decrease the risk of concussions. However, research has shown that a relatively novel idea has proven to show significant improvement in reducing concussion risk. Having a strong neck will decrease the likelihood of injury.
