There is nothing more frustrating than seeing an athlete perform an entire strength training session while either sitting or lying on a piece of equipment or bench. Rarely, in any sport, is an athlete required to perform a sports related motion from a sitting and laying position. Being that athletes perform in standing positions, it would be insane to expect an athlete to be able to maximally benefit from a workout if they do not train standing up. Standing up while weight training not only puts athletes in similar athletic positions, but also serves many other services. The following are all reasons why an athlete should stand while performing strength training.
