Year after year, we have the opportunity to look at some of the most elite athletes during the little league world series. It amazes me how hard these little league pitchers are able to throw while showing so much command over their pitches. I always wonder am I watching the next big league all-star. However, when I see these youngsters throwing off speed pitches I feel they are predisposing themselves to increasing the likelihood of injury. The change up is relatively easy on the arm. However, pitches that cause increased wrist action such as the curve ball or breaking ball should be held. Here are some reasons why off speed pitches should not be thrown until post adolescent or post pubescent ages.
