Stealing Bases Starts with the Hands

While so many athletes think that, their legs will be the most important aspect to stealing bases, they often overlook the first part of the body to move. The hands and the arms initiate all motion towards the next base. A delay in moving the heads will impede acceleration and movement towards stealing the next base. Quick and early hand and arm movements will force the upper body to turn towards the next base and start to drive the hips and legs faster. A slow turn towards the base will delay the first step to accelerating and getting a good jump to stealing a base.
